They first appeared as bosses in Kirby's Adventure, and have never been encountered separate from one another. Even after one of the two is defeated, they still work as a team (to an extent) to fight against Kirby. But unlike their traditional boss fights, these two actually ARE seperate opponents, so you'll actually be fighting them at the same time, even if you expected one to be in the air while the other is on the ground.
