About This File

Warning: This Screenpack only works with IKEMEN Go version 0.98.2 (possibly higher) set up with a 16:9 resolution! This is not designed to work on MUGEN.

I said I'd do it 4 months ago and I finally got around to it. This is a remaster of my MUGEN Generations screenpack, but for IKEMEN. While I kept the core simplistic design of the original, I wanted to correct what I considered to be some egregious errors as well as create all new health bars that look a lot more polished than the original, and take advantage of a lot of IKEMEN Go's additional features. Most especially, I wanted to let the user install this cleanly rather than providing it with a full MUGEN install like I did before.

Features:
-A category-based screenpack, something I haven't seen for IKEMEN yet.

-Literally infinite character slots, believe it or not.

-Unlike MUGEN category-based select screens, it doesn't rely on an "invisible grid" that makes switching categories confusing.

-Really cool custom made lifebars based on KOF 2002

-Support for IKEMEN's additional features and modes.

Known jank:

This screenpack uses IKEMEN's shared slot feature to allow for infinite character slots. This does create a few eccentricities not found in the MUGEN version however:

-When toggling through characters in a category, it'll change that slot for both players. It's best for both players not to browse the same category at the same time.
-When returning to the character select screen, rather than the cursor remembering what character you last chose, it'll instead be on the first character of the category you chose.
-There is no sound effect when switching between characters in the same category.

There is nothing I can do to fix these issues, as that's just how the engine works with this feature at this time.

Great screenpack overall, love it. Only thing that bothers me is that theres not a sega section. Maybe update this to have a sega section? That's fine if not it just bothers me that there isn't a sega section.

Response from the author:

Unfortunately as I soon found out with the original MUGEN Generations, custom requests for categories can get out of hand pretty quickly.

However, I can offer up the files to help doing it yourself easily.

The link contains a zip file that has a GIMP project file (.xcf) and the font files needed to edit the image the screenpack uses to display categories. You can save a new PNG and replace the old one with it in the system.sff file. If you know how to do this, great! If not, things are going to be a bit complicated. You can click the Spoiler here for a guide:

Spoiler

Step 1: Extract the zip somewhere on your computer.

Step 2: Open the "tektur font" folder and install the fonts inside.

image.thumb.png.92d085a229dd594a04e3ded1b6a579cb.png

Step 3: After installing all of those font files, open select mockup.xcf in GIMP. If you don't have GIMP, you can find it here: https://www.gimp.org/ GIMP is a free image editing software.

Step 4: In GIMP, make sure the text layer ("STREET FIGHTER ...") is selected. Use the Text tool (the A in the toolbox).

Step 5: Double click the text on the image to be able to edit it. Edit the text however you like, just make sure to keep just as many lines as there were to start with. In this case, I deleted CARTOON and added SEGA under NINTENDO.

Step 6: Once you've made your changes, click File > Export. Save the image wherever you want as a png file, for example "select.png". Keep the default Export settings and simply click Export. You should now have a png file where you saved it.

Step 7: Open Fighter Factory 3. If you don't have Fighter Factory 3, you can find it here: http://network.mugenguild.com/justnopoint/ff301x64.rar

Step 8: Go to Sprites > Open. Navigate to your IKEMEN build, data > ikegen > system.sff and open that.

Step 9: You should see a screen like this. Navigate through the sprites (1/42 on the lefthand side) to Sprite 6. A familiar menu should be appear in the main window.

Step 10: Click the "change sprite" button on the left side. Navigate to the "select.png" we created earlier in GIMP and open it. Say "No" to cropping the image. Simply click OK on the following window.

image.png.a400581122b869a424daaeabaaf073ba.png

Step 11: Click the Save Sprites button. Choose to save it as a MUGEN 1.1 file and click OK. Navigate to ikegen/system.sff again and overwrite it.

Step 12: Once it is saved, you should be able to close Fighter Factory 3. Run the game, and the new menu should be shown in game in place of the old one. Edit your select.def accordingly, and enjoy!

Finally a section based screenpack for Ikemen Go! its great thank you. My only gripe with it is that the shared slot function i use for same character types is used for the slots instead, but I can get around that by organizing it and cleaning up my roster. Thanks!
